The work of Gonzalo Pa´ramo (Burgos 1971) is that of an unclsassifiable artist. Like the great artists of the past, his pictorial trajectory, in spite of his youth, is set up in coordinates that escape the usual biographical review at use in critical text: studies, influences, gallery shows, lectures, etc. To get close to his work demands, before anything, a certain conceptual innocence relative to the artistic world and the thorough study of a mysterious analysis in which the cooperation of science and also of the indecipherable poetry of the enigmas of existence is clear. It also helps to have a certain spiritual trance in which the understanding of art, of artistic realization, is fundamental, not only as a means of expression but also, moreover, as an indisputable vital necessity that anchors its roots in the anxious interior world.

One must mention here the passion for the most diverse materials as a support of his painting where paper, in its most ample dimension has a priority. Paper that is manipulated, losing its original essence and many times subjected to embossing. Paper altered by the presence of pictorial inks or pigments. Ripples and pleats patiently and subtly realized by the artist with the help of the dampened peat in which alchemically - one substance transformed into another - he buries his drawings for their later rescue, thus transmuted. From the studio-laboratory of the artist they arise like texts impossible writings than seem to have been realized through different "layers". The discovery of tridimensionality, so many times sought by the traditional painter by means of exercising the painting shadow, seems to pop out of those oxidized tints and texts, thanks to successive oxidations and the use of different qualities o inks, on paper.
